Hi, I’m Sarah!
I’ve worked as a school librarian for nine years, but now blog full time from home while reading scads of picture books with my children. I’m consistently drawn to bookshelves, downtowns, and individuals pursuing their passions. I’m a DIY-er who finds handmade and hard work to be valuable and rewarding. I’m the kind of person who would rather write a letter than text a message. And…picture books are a medium with which I am enthralled.
To me, picture books are the perfect blend of writing, art, and storytelling. Read with children at bedtime, learners in the classroom, or patrons in the library, picture books are transformative works meant to be shared. This blog is dedicated to sharing, discussing, and recommending children’s picture books of the highest quality, published both recently and previously, with everyone.
This could be considered a slow blog because I post once a week; however, posts go deep, and that’s on purpose. When I post about a book, I tend to go into author/illustrator journeys to publication, delving into the story-behind-the-story. I love research and find myself descending down very curious rabbit holes sometimes. Of course, I’m also interested in the history of children’s lit and current trends in the industry and will dive into those topics accordingly. Independent bookstores will also receive hearty coverage here. And as a librarian, you certainly know that I have taken a sworn oath to always point to resources related to and celebrating libraries and librarians.
I’m glad you’re here. Please join in the conversation and help me to push picture books further and farther, into even more hands and hearts.
